Cedar Waxwing in the “Drunk Tank”

Bombycilla cedrorum

19 April 2007 at the Project Wildlife Care Center

I have witnessed in person their dinner table manners at Sheppard AFB (seasonal home to some of the most beautiful avian “Foreign Object Debris”) in Wichita Falls, TX in early Spring 2005. I was sitting beneath a tree full of trilling Cedar Waxwings who passed in their bills, just as I had read, the berries down the line from bird to bird until one just decided to eat it finally. For this, they are always described as “gregarious” (except during breeding).
