Cuckoo conducts skin elasticity/hydration test

While the photograph does capture well the character, it does not capture the striking zygodactyly of the species, which was somehow the first feature that I noticed. They share a family with Roadrunners, but the modern Cuckoos do not seem so cursorial in habit. Interestingly, there is a Miocene fossil having genus name of Cursoricoccyx.
